This is one of many petroglyphs found all over the double-volcanic island of Ometepe.  No one knows exactly who made them or where they came from.  Those peoples were overtaken by the Aztecs, who were then overtaken by the Spaniards, so the stories have been buried.

This was our guide on a medicinal plant walk around Volcan Maderas.  He had a theory about the petroglyphs, but his is one of many.

These gorgous butterflies were ubiquitious around Totoco Eco Lodge. All the flowers in their gardens happened to be blooming when we were there.

It walked onto our boat like it belonged there.  apparently, boats pass by this small island where rescued monkeys that couldn't be returned to "the wild" many times each day.  They're bien domesticated at this point.

Laguna de Apoyo, the warm, clean lagoon surrounded almost entirely by forest reserves.  It's about 20 minutes outside of granada.  We coulda stayed there for days...

The inside of the belltower at church St ..... We were the last ones to climb up to it for the day.  it gives a great view for sunset.
